Re-tipping Your Cue
You will need:
- A sharp knife or stanely blade.
- Glue.
- Light grade sand paper.
- Electrical tape.
Removing the old tip
To do this you need a sharp implement, preferably a sharp knife or stanley blade. For best results clamp the cue so that it
doesn't slip. To ensure you don't damage the shaft, electrical tape can be wrapped around the cue. Taking care place the knife
between the top of the ferrule and the bottom of the tip and cut away from yourself. Most tips should come away quite easily, but
may require a sawing action.
Attaching the new tip
Make sure both surfaces are clean by removing old glue and any chalk residue. To do this place a stanely blade on top of the
ferrule and rotate it until all debris is removed. Alternatively you could use a light grade of sandpaper, but be very careful
not to round off the top of the ferrule.
Place a very small amount of glue on both surfaces. Apply firm pressure to the tip for around 5 minutes and then leave to dry
for at least 3-5 hours (try and leave overnight).
Make sure you clean up any glue residue.
